H.R. 1443 was my first bill to pass the House of Representatives. The bill prohibits credit discrimination for LGBTQ+ business owners by amending reporting requirements to include not only sex, but also sexual orientation and gender identity. Across the country, there are more than 7.7 million LGBTQ adults live in states that offer no protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. My bill offers anti-discrimination protections to members of the LGBTQ+ community where none might exist.
