Rep. Ritchie Torres and NYCHA Celebrate Completion of $3 Million Exterior Lighting Installation at Jackson Houses
BRONX, NY — Today, Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15) and Dylan Baker-Rice, Deputy Chief Asset and Capital Manager at the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), celebrated the completion of the Jackson Houses Exterior Lighting Installation, a $3,000,000 federal investment secured by Rep. Torres to improve safety and security for Bronx residents. Danny Barber, Tenant Association President at Jackson Houses, spoke at the event. Barber was instrumental in advocating for and securing the funding, and has been a tireless voice for NYCHA residents across New York City.
The completed project has outfitted the NYCHA Jackson Houses development in NY-15 with new exterior security lighting across common areas, walkways, and building entrances, directly addressing longstanding resident safety concerns. The investment reflects Rep. Torres’s commitment to delivering real, tangible improvements for the thousands of families who call Jackson Houses home.
The $3,000,000 project was funded through the Community Project Funding process, which enables Members of Congress to direct federal resources to local projects that advance equity and community well-being.
