BRONX, N.Y. – U.S. Representative Ritchie Torres (NY-15) this afternoon issued the following statement condemning the hate-filled stabbing attack in Illinois over the weekend that claimed the life of a young Muslim boy and seriously wounded his mother:

“America should have zero tolerance for all of forms of hate – including anti-Palestinian animus. Americans should never be targeted, attacked, or killed simply
because of who they are, how they identify, where they come from, or how they
worship
I am as outraged as I am saddened by the murder of six-year-old Palestinian-American
Wadea Al-Fayoume in Illinois. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and entire
community – especially his mother who was also targeted, injured, and is now
recovering.

The murderer must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”
