Rep. Ritchie Torres on Donald Trump’s Housing Cuts

Today, Congressman Ritchie Torres (NY-15) issued the following statement:

“Over 9 million Americans rely on federally subsidized housing sustained by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

“Now, Donald Trump is proposing to defund HUD—the nation’s largest provider of affordable housing—by a staggering 50%.

“This is not merely a budget cut. It is a frontal assault on the most vulnerable Americans—often essential workers who increasingly cannot afford to live where they work, or even remain in the communities that have long been their homes.”
