Washington, DC- Today, U.S. Representative Ritchie Torres (NY-15) introduced the “Antisemitism Inclusion in DEI Act of 2023”. This bill is aimed at combating antisemitism and educating employees on the dangers of antisemitism in the workplace.

This bill would require a publicly traded corporation to disclose to the SEC if it has a Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) program that includes any initiatives and trainings to combat antisemitism. Antisemitism education is often not included in DEI trainings; thus, many workplaces do not have proper policies and procedures to combat antisemitism in the workplace.

According to the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), “Unchecked antisemitism and bias in the workplace inevitably affect employees and lead to a non-inclusive work culture that normalizes hate”. New statistics from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) show that antisemitic incidents in the United States have jumped 337 percent since October 7th, 2023.

“As we confront the alarming surge in antisemitic incidents, this bill ensures transparency by requiring corporations to disclose their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives related to combating antisemitism, said Rep. Ritchie Torres (NY-15). Let us champion an inclusive workplace, fostering unity and rejecting the normalization of hate. We must ensure that all workplaces have an environment where diversity thrives, and antisemitism has no place in our professional spaces.”
